What is the difference between directional and bidirectional RF attenuators?

Follow

A directional attenuator functions in one direction only. It is designed to have the RF signal only go from input to output. A bidirectional attenuator can have the signal travel both ways.

A directional attenuator has a specific input and output connector and will be marked as such. A bi-directional attenuator does not matter which connector is used for input or output.
